LHF: Hi, Sharon! Thank you so much for taking the time to sit with us! To start, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Sharon: Well, I grew up in Warren, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, and I lived there until 1980. All through high school I enjoyed working out and had a budding modeling career. As I got older, things changed in my life; I was tired of the cold and I decided to move down to Florida. I had a few jobs and began to meet people that were into fitness as well, which got me, once again, really into the workout lifestyle and routine. Fast forward, my husband and I have been happily married for 28 years this coming July. He has been my total inspiration and biggest fan.

I have been a receptionist in the insurance industry for 26 years and truly enjoy my job position. When I enter retirement, I would like to further my involvement in the fitness industry. However, how I got involved with Loggerhead Fitness was, about eight years ago, I woke up one day and realized I needed to get fit, I somehow had fallen off the wagon. So, I started with a few small group woman’s training centers and eventually found Loggerhead to be the best fit. One big draw to Loggerhead was that I did not want to go to a big box gym. After I was introduced to the facility, I loved it!

LHF: We love hearing that! What are some of your favorite things about the club?

Sharon: I just adore my trainer, Gillian, and the entire Loggerhead Fitness crew. They always make me feel welcome. The facility is pristine and so clean, it’s a fabulous center.

I have always enjoyed having a personal trainer because I like discipline and accountability and I really get that from Gillian. She is so good at showing me exactly what to do and what muscles are at work. Training at Loggerhead Fitness just allows me to keep my confidence and maintain my body tone and muscle. You know, I’ve always been active, ate well, and kept up with my nutrition. I am very proud of my healthy journey and the lifestyle that I lead and hope to inspire and mentor others. I just really love my fitness – It’s great for the mind, body, and soul!

LHF: That’s a great point, many people forget that health really does start with nutrition. Are you big into cooking?

Sharon: Oh, yes! I love cooking. I’d much rather enjoy a beautiful plate of vegetables and a good protein than a dish that is unhealthy. Even my husband is eating better now because of me and he’s gotten healthier, which is wonderful!

LHF: So, Sharon, what would you say is the best take away from coming to Loggerhead Fitness?

Sharon: I’ve learned so much educationally and feel so comfortable working out here with my trainer, Gillian, who has taught me so much about the body, how it works, and why I feel the way I feel. I get her undivided attention when I’m with her and that makes me feel so great. I truly appreciate my time with her, she is an absolute gem! We have bonded and built that trust that you don’t always get with other trainers or gyms.

Loggerhead allows me to be myself and focus on my workouts when I am here without judgement. This gym, by far, is one of the best fitness centers that I have ever experienced. I highly recommend people becoming a member, but make sure you have the motivation and passion because it only works if you work with it! My motto is “it’s hard to stay lean, it’s easy to get fat.” Put in the work and you won’t be disappointed with Loggerhead Fitness.
